MEETING OF COMMERCIAL COURTS IN KRAGUJEVAC, 16-17 October 2017

The Commercial appellate Court, supported by the MDTF-JSS, organized a meeting with presidents of all commercial courts in Serbia on 16 – 17 October 2017 in the Conference room of Hotel Šumarice in Kragujevac. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy President of the Commercial Court of Appeal, the President of the Department for the Protection of the Right to Trial within a Reasonable Time at the Commercial Court of Appeal and the Chief of Administration office.

The acting President of the Commercial appellate Court presented the Reports of the Work of the Courts for the period January-September 2017.

Acting President of the Commercial appellate Court pointed out that although the courts had mastered the influx and the number of old cases was slightly decreased, the number of the oldest cases in the courts was increased (or remained at the same level).

The presidents of the commercial courts have exposed the problems the judges have in resolving these cases. They concluded that the courts are to pay special attention to old cases and in case that resolution of these cases depends on some other institutions, they write a report on it to try to lower the number of these cases as much as possible.

Special attention was paid to the problems of archiving in the courts. All the difficulties with which the first instance commercial courts are faced are presented: lack of manpower and inadequate space.

At the end, representatives of the Ministry of Justice and company E-smart presented a new program for the management of the court cases SIPRIS.
