Award Ceremony for the Essay and Photo Competition

On May 8, the World Bank hosted a reception for Serbian judicial stakeholders and international partners in Center for Cultural Decontamination in Belgrade. The reception also served as an award ceremony for the essay and photo competition which was organized under the Functional Review. The welcome speech was given by Judge Dragomir Milojevic, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation.

In order to generate fresh and original suggestions from a wider group of stakeholders on how to improve accessibility, quality or efficiency of justice services, the World Bank , in cooperation with IPSOS and Belgrade Center for Human Rights, organized an essay and photo competition. The goal of the essay competition was to outline in 500 words or less suggestions for improvements of the justice in Serbia. Participants in the photo competition shared their visions for the future of justice in Serbia post-accession to EU. We have received more than 100 essays and over 60 photos.

The selection panel, comprised of representatives from MOJPA, Supreme Court of Cassation, Republic Prosecutors Office, donors and the World Bank, awarded first prize for the essay to Ms. Katarina Zarkovic and the first prize in the photo competition to Ms. Ana Buric. The winning essay can be downloaded here (version in Serbian here) and here is the winning photo.

Mr. Klaus Decker, Senior Public Sector Specialist and TTL for MDTF-JSS, congratulated winners and handed awards and a prizes.
